Our story
Founded in an atelier, not a boardroom.
Nocturne was born in 2019 when perfumer Céline Arnaud returned to Lyon with a small library of absolutes and a single rule: every fragrance must feel inevitable on skin. We make fewer scents, less often. Each one is an essay in memory, edited over seasons rather than sprints.
We work outside the mainstream fragrance calendar. Our batches are numbered, never reformulated for mass appeal, and bottled by hand. The result is a house that moves slowly in a world built for speed.

The current edit is deliberately small. Each extrait is macerated for at least eight weeks and adjusted until it lives naturally on skin.

Somali frankincense, green cardamom, dried labdanum, and dark amber resin lit against cool stone corridors.

L'atelier
Slow is the only speed we know.
Most houses launch four fragrances a season. We launch when the formula stops changing on skin. That usually takes more than a year.

Source
We buy direct from growers and cooperatives, often visiting the fields ourselves. No middlemen, no standardized extracts.

Macerate
Raw blends rest in small steel drums for six to twelve weeks, letting notes settle into each other before adjustment.

Trial on skin
Paper lies. We test on people, across seasons, climates, and moods, until a scent feels like second nature.

Bottle by hand
Every flacon is polished, filled, numbered, and sealed in our Lyon studio. Imperfections are not smoothed away.
Matières premières
The difference is in the fields.
We choose materials for their emotional temperature, not just their cost. Many of our oils are vintage, traceable, and harvested by people we know by name.
Traceability matters: each box lists the origin of its key ingredients and the season of harvest.
